The Travel Channel voted Naples, Florida the best beach destination in America today. This should come as no surprise considering all the great stuff you’ll find to do here. Of course, Naples itself is known to have clean beaches with fine, bright white sand. These beaches stretch along the Gulf of Mexico for over 10 miles. With such a long stretch, you’re sure to find the perfect place to set up your beach umbrella so you can sunbathe for a while. Of course, there’s so many other things to do and see, you may not stay put for long.
One of the most renowned places in Naples, Florida today is the Delnor-Wiggins State Park. It’s definitely a place you’ll want to check out! Here you’ll find a mile (166 acres) of gently rolling waters and powdery, white sand. This barrier island off of Florida’s southwest coast is separated from the mainland thanks to mangrove swamps and tidal creeks (outlets for the Cocohatchee River).
There are lots of fun things to do here. You can choose to fish, sunbathe, shell, swim, picnic, watch birds, relax, scuba dive, snorkel, watch the wildlife, kayak, or boat. All of these fun activities are accented by the great amenities Delnor-Wiggins State Park also offers. These include boat ramps, restrooms, tours, interpretive Exhibits, pavilions, picnic areas with grills and tables, hard bottom reefs, and showers. There really is a little something available for everyone here, regardless of what you enjoy or need.
Conde Nast Travel Magazine has rated Delnor-Wiggins State Park as one of the world’s top 10 beaches. One of the things this park is most certainly known for is its incredible sunsets – just one reason to visit among the many fun things to do here. Also, keep in mind that this park closes its gates when it reaches capacity, so make sure you get there early! After all, you don’t want to miss out on all the fun Delnor-Wiggins State Park has to offer.
