Although there are many other enjoyable activities at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples, fishing might just be your primary reason for visiting. The Southwest Florida State park is well known for its sunbathing, paddle boarding, bird watching, kayaking, and just about anything else you can do in the sand, water and sun. However, fishing is worth the trip all by itself. Whether you cast a line from shore, charter a fishing boat, or rent a dinghy, the wide variety of species offers something for everyone.
Park hours are dawn to dusk, so early morning fishing is optimal. Game fish like redfish, snapper, tarpon, pompano, sea trout, snook, and sheepshead are plentiful and constantly restocked by the changing tides. Of course, you have to have a valid Florida fishing license, but even non-residents can get one. Fishing is not allowed in the swimming areas, but there are many available fishing spots through the park. Mangroves, spills, and streams offer different options besides the obvious off-shore style that attracts so many tourists.
